SPRINGTIME WITH THE ORCHESTRA OF ST. LUKE’S
Wednesday, April 22 6:30 PM
Celebrate the new season with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s playing colorful and vibrant works created in idyllic landscapes by composers in their 20s, the springtime of their lives.
Honegger Pastorale d’été was inspired by the awe of a summer sunrise in the Swiss Alps while Brahms’s Serenade No. 1 in D Major came to life in the German countryside. Brahms’s first Serenade is considered by many to be nearly symphonic in scale, and it foreshadows the prodigious symphonist he would become at the height of his career.
Temple Emanu-El is honored to welcome back the Orchestra of St. Luke’s for its 40th appearance, playing:
Honegger Pastorale d’ete
Brahms/Boustead: Serenade No. 1 in D Major, Op. 11
Made possible by the support of Temple Emanu-El members Robert B. Menschel and Richard Menschel.
