"HALLELUYAH" — TO THE WORLD
Friday, May 1
Five days after Prime Minister Menachem Begin and President Anwar Sadat signed the 1979 peace treaty, Israel exploded in a second “Halleluyah,” sung by Gali Atari in the Eurovision competition. The song, which captured the euphoria of the moment, won the world’s biggest song contest, and its simple message about singing with one heart has made it a classic worldwide. Atari will reprise the inspiring anthem, in English and in Hebrew, as we celebrate Israel’s 72nd Independence Day.
This program is sponsored by the Tisch family and supported by Temples Israel and Emanu-El.
